About
I grew up playing cello & singing, even went to college thinking music was going to be my life. Instead, after my college years, I worked as a legal secretary or in administrative roles, with music and art as side gigs. When my kids were older, I became a photographer. About 8 years ago, I was doing pro bono work as a photographer with organizations that provided aid & resources to unhoused and at-risk communities. I developed an understanding in that time of the massive need for deathcare within that community and truly all other communities.
Over time my efforts became much more focused on end-of-life care for any who need it:
No one should die alone or afraid.
Pain is manageable and often unnecessary.
Resources and knowledge about options should be ready & available to dying individuals.
Access to care, empathy, and dignity should be the norm for all who are dying.
Communication should be streamlined between the dying, their doctors & care team, and their families.
I came away from my time as a pro bono photographer with a deep conviction and a will to work for these changes in deathcare. MODAmyra became more than just a photography pursuit and I pooled all of my skills into a more comprehensive endeavor, which is where you're meeting me today. ~m
